Some countries suggest (or even mandate) that you should vaccinate yourself against diseases that are particularly prevalent in that area. Examples include malaria, yellow fever, or hepatitis. And your doctor will be able to advise on what is required for the countries you are travelling to.
COVID-19 vaccinations are also still part of a traveller’s health considerations, and lateral flow tests or PCR tests are still needed for some travel. It is important to check what the current regulations are before you set off. Each country will likely have different rules to follow.
#5 Currency, culture and customs
It may seem obvious, but if you are travelling through different countries and continents, then most will have different currencies. Even if you intend to pay for most items on a credit card, being able to tip in the local currency is important. So you will need to have some cash on you to enable you to do this.
Also, some countries will have their own customs to which you may not be used, so knowing if you need to cover up your legs and arms for religious reasons, or the correct way to greet someone means you won’t be left feeling embarrassed, or worse.
